Five year old autistic boy found drowned into Sungai Skudai in Johor serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of water safety and the need for swift and effective response in emergency situations.
The heart-wrenching incident unfolded in Kampung Sepakat Baru in Skudai, where the young boy, who was described as a person with disabilities, accidentally fell into the river while reportedly taking pictures with a mobile phone along the river area, just meters away from his home.
Upon receiving a distress call at 5.59pm, a dedicated seven-man search-and-rescue team from the Skudai fire and rescue station sprang into action. Their tireless efforts led to the discovery of the boy’s body at 11.15pm, approximately 130 meters away from where he fell, submerged at a depth of four meters.
This unfortunate incident underscores the critical importance of water safety, especially for vulnerable individuals such as children and those with disabilities. It serves as a stark reminder of the need for ongoing education and awareness regarding water-related risks, as well as the importance of equipping individuals with basic life-saving skills.
